Self catering South Downs: Caburn Cottages are a group of holiday cottages built using local brick and flint, on the site of our former cowsheds. Our cottages are attractively furnished and equipped to a high standard.

Facilities

The cottages comprise between one and three bedrooms, each with a kitchen/lounge and a bathroom. They are double-glazed and have an area of lawn outside with garden furniture. All are single-storey.

Each kitchen has an electric or gas cooker, microwave, fridge (with freezer compartment), toaster, kettle and colour TV. Each bathroom has a wc and power shower or power shower over the bath. Bed linen and towels are included.
In addition, there is a laundry room with two washing machines and a tumble drier for use by guests. There are two rotary clothes driers in a separate area.

We were awarded 1st Prize in the Sussex Heritage Awards 2001 in the Industrial and Commercial category, for an outstanding development using traditional skills within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Please note: All our self catering South Downs cottages are non-smoking.

All little history about the cottages

The cottages were built in 2000 and originally comprised of 5 cottages around the courtyard, in 2005 Ivy & Rose were added. The cottages are built on the site of old farm buildings, the original cowsheds were demolished in the 1960s and a large span cattle shed put up which housed 80 cattle.

The family have been farming here, Ranscombe Farm for over 50 years.
